  • April, 2013 - Tlingit Language Class, Sheldon Museum
    Every Tuesday from 6:30 to 8 pm at the Sheldon Museum learn the local native Tlingit language with
    teacher Joanne Elsie Spud and others.  All ages and abilities welcome (beginners to advanced)

    Julia Scott  & the Perpetual Beer Run brings the music to you.  BBQ, beer and music at 5:30 pm, members FREE and

    An enchanting evening of Magic & Music starting at 7 pm brought to you by the Haines Arts Council.  Tickets at the door,

  • April 30, 2013 - Oscar Nominated Short Films, Sheldon Museum
    Live- action Animated Shorts on Tuesday, April 30th, at 7 pm.  Brought to you by the Haines Arts Council, $6 at the door.
     
  • April, 2014 - "Big Air" Competition, at the Chilkat Pass
    Held annually near the Three Guardsmen Mountain in British Columbia.  Skiers and snowboarders compete
    in three divisions; beginner, intermediate and advanced and judged on their air, style and landing, coordinator Luck Dunbar.

  • May, 2013 - Tlingit Language Class, Sheldon Museum

    Haines will be the host venue for the TIA Yukon Conference,  around 100 delegates will attend 
    the professional development forum and networking opportunity for the Yukon tourism

  • May 24-25, 2013  -  21st Annual Great Alaska Craftbeer and Homebrew Festival
    Gourmet Beer Banquet on Friday evening.  Fun-run on Saturday morning.   Saturday afternoon
    enjoy live music, local food, and excellent craft beers from breweries and distributors across the state.

    From Haines Junction, YT to Haines, AK.  148.8 miles along Kluane National Park, Tatshenshini Alsek

  • July 1 - 21, 2013 - Summer Youth Theater Conservatory, Chilkat Center for the Arts
    Registration forms are now available for the Lynn Canal Players' Summer Youth Theater Conservatory.  Three weeks of theater fun culminating in a full length play to be performed for the public at the Chilkat Center for the Arts.  The Conservatory will be held July 1 through July 21, with performances July 19 and 20.  Students learn voice, movement, acting, improvisation, and stage combat as well as the technical side of the theater productions.  The Conservatory is open to students ages 8 to 18, with a half-time Playmaking session for students agaes 5 to 7.  This year will be "The Magic Lamp of Aladdin".  Registration forms available at the school, the Babbling Book, and on line at chilkatcenter.org/partners, discounts available for preregistration before June 8th.  For more information call Annette Smith 766-2708. 
     
  • July 4, 2013 - Independence Day Celebration & Music Festival

  • October through January - Chilkat Bald Eagle Preserve Gathering
    World's largest congregation of American Bald Eagles. Up to 4000 eagles
    gather along the banks of the Chilkat River to feast on spawning salmon.

  • November 13-17, 2013 - 19th Annual Alaska Bald Eagle Festival

  • November, 2013 - Annual Lighting of the Library Fundraiser
    Sponsored by the Friends of the Haines Borough Library.  Kick off the winter season with friends and family, music, refreshments, art project for kids, and of course, the lighting of the tree.  If you would like to help with the decorating of the library, the elves could use your help.  Call 907-766-2545 for more information.

  • October through January - Chilkat Bald Eagle Preserve Gathering - World's largest congregation of American Bald Eagles. Up to 4000 eagles gather along the banks of the Chilkat River to feast on spawning salmon. 
     
  • December 7, 2013 - Historic Fort William H. Seward Lights up for the Holidays, Fort Seward Parade Grounds
    Our Snow Dragon Parade starts on Main Street than at 5 pm sharp the great cannon blasts, the
    fort lights up, and then follow the luminarios into the Parade Grounds for a Nativity tableau followed by a
    good old fashioned bonfire and weenie roast.
     
  • December 13-14, 2013 - Annual Community Christmas Celebration
    Activities for kids of all ages.  Enter your favorite sweet treat in the candy/cookie contest, write a letter to Santa and get your picture with the man in the red suit, visit Mrs. Claus at the Public Library for stories and songs, stop by the Museum to see the trains and get an early start on your holiday shopping.   For more information contact the Haines Chamber 907-766-2202  www.haineschamber.org.
